Quickstart Guide

Create your first AI assistant in under 5 minutes.

Step 1: Sign Up

  1. Go to the Functional AI dashboard
  2. Click Sign Up and enter your email address
  3. Create a password (minimum 8 characters)
  4. Check your inbox for a verification email
  5. Click the verification link
  6. Log in to access your dashboard

Step 2: Create Your First Assistant

  1. Click Assistants in the sidebar
  2. Click Create Assistant
  3. Fill in:
  4. Name: "Customer Support Bot"
  5. Instructions: See example below
  6. Click Create Assistant

You are a friendly customer support assistant for [Your Company].

Your role:
- Answer questions about our products and services
- Help customers find what they need
- Be professional yet conversational

Guidelines:
- Keep responses concise (2-3 sentences when possible)
- If unsure, say so honestly
- For complex issues, suggest contacting support@yourcompany.com

Step 3: Test Your Assistant

  1. Click Chat in the sidebar
  2. Select your new assistant from the left panel
  3. Type a message and see how your assistant responds

Step 4: Share Your Assistant

  1. Go to Assistants and click your assistant
  2. Toggle Assistant Privacy to Public
  3. Go to the Sharing tab
  4. Copy the share link or embed code
Troubleshooting

Assistant doesn't appear in Chat - Refresh the page - Verify correct assistant is selected

Share link doesn't work - Ensure Assistant Privacy is set to Public

Verification email not received - Check spam folder - Wait 5 minutes - Request new verification email

Unhelpful responses - Make instructions more specific - Add a knowledge base with detailed information

Build a Full Assistant

Writing Better Instructions

Be specific about:

  • Tone: Friendly? Professional? Casual?
  • Scope: What topics should it cover?
  • Boundaries: What should it NOT discuss?
  • Fallback: How to handle unknown questions?

Better example: "You are a friendly customer support agent for TechGadgets. Answer questions about our products, shipping (2-5 business days), and returns (30-day policy). For technical repairs, direct customers to support@techgadgets.com."
